Civilist Dunk Low - Online Raffle *Now Live*

For their latest collaboration Nike SB tapped Berlin based skateshop Civilist, who decided to pay homage to the Cities legendary Rave culture of the early 90's. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1991, the two sides of the city’s Mitte District were finally reunited and with that a cultural transformation took place. Western styles and music merged with the old world flavors captivating Germans, both young and old. Long deserted buildings became beacons of culture as all night parties became the norm. This vibrant transformation can be seen clearly in the shoe design, at first glance the look is predominantly black and subdued, however once exposed to heat a thermochromatic pattern is revealed. Drawing parallels to a doppler radar map, each shoes pattern is different and unique. The iconic smiley face logo was chosen because of it's place in Acid House, and rave culture as a whole. P.L.U.R. "Peace, Love, Unity & Respect", was the calling card of this movement. "Acid House" is a sub-genre of house music developed around the mid-1980s by DJs in Chicago. The style was defined primarily by the deep basslines and "squelching" sounds of the Roland TB-303 electronic synthesizer-sequencer" and the artist most often credited with pioneering this sound was DJ Pierre.
